Source says EU not to limit Russian gas prices any time soon
BRUSSELS, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- The E.U. has no plans to restrict prices for Russian gas any time soon, a source in Brussels told PRIME on Friday.
"The European Commission has no intent to insist on this decision any time soon, these negotiations are only testing the ground," the source said.
According to the official, the E.U. also has no plans to embargo Russian gas imports.
"Concerning an embargo on imports of Russian gas in the same format as an oil embargo that the E.U. introduced in the framework of the measures against Russia, this is not on the agenda," the source said.
Late on Thursday, the E.U. issued a statement saying it needed to spur up negotiations with reliable partners to sign long-term gas agreements, taking into account the prospects of the 2023–2024 winter.
